StoryCycle and the British Embassy in Nepal are pleased to announce a journalism workshop for digital journalists of Pokhara on December 15-16, 2017. After successful completion of two digital journalism workshops in Kathmandu, where 20 journalists benefited from hands-on training and discussion, we are traveling to the tourist town of Pokhara to train local journalists.

Our training will enable them to counter fake news, help them verify news as well as follow professional standards while covering a breaking news event. We will share best practice of doing digital journalism. Our experienced trainers will help them enhance their capacity to do fact-based journalism in a rapidly changing and challenging area of digital storytelling. We will discuss the issues they face during the course of reporting and in the newsroom and how best to handle them.

The workshop will be delivered by Arpan Shrestha, an independent journalist, Saurav Dhakal, founder of StoryCycle and other experienced media professionals. The one-day training for digital journalists will focus on mobile journalism, techniques required for multi-media storytelling and verification, fact-checking and ethics of journalism.

It will be full of discussion, showcasing useful examples and resources. Ultimately, our goal is to help journalists tell better stories by using available tools and techniques. The workshop is free to attend, but since we have limited number of spaces (10 participants), you will have to apply to attend it. The deadline to apply for the workshop is December 7, 2017 .
